Namaya
Namaya is an International performance poet, story teller, playwright and jazz poet who has performed throughout the US, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. Namaya electrifies an audience with entire shows of stories and poems improvised from the audience. Whether it is his shows “ir Reveren’ Jaz’ from the Great Church of the Be Here Now,” “God SEX Politics” performed around the world, or the stories and humor of “Vermont My Home.” With his guitar, voice, or a jazz ensemble, Namaya is “The high wire performance artist of the spoken word.” Namaya’s solo/ ensemble shows are currently on hold until the completion of his new CDs/ MP3s.
His current work includes CDS/ MP3: Vermont My Home, Celebrate Life, Children’s – Tio Namaya, CD of Travel Stories – Gypsy Soul and Ir’Reveren’ Jaz. Current photography is “Luscious Wet Kisses” – at Blue Heron Pond, Namaya is photographing models for nude and semi-nude photos that will be used in his collection of love and erotic poetry.
Namaya’s play Beatnik Cafe has been produced in New York City and Boston, and is currently scheduling more shows. His new play, “Four Profits,” where Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, and Satan dressed in a black dominatrix outfit dragged by the four whores of the apocalypse Greed, lust, pride, gluttony in the guise of Exxon, Citibank, Pentagon and Congress meet in a public restroom to debate.
Be All That You can Be – 4,800 people in army fatigues meeting at Washington Memorial and marching to the Vietnam memorial in commoration of the US soldiers.
Pornography of War – This is a series of art, photography, drawings, writings about the obscenity of war and the consequence. The first part of the series is the “$680 penis” a comparison of the amount of money countries around the world spend on the military. The graphs are arranged as 14 foot tall penises shaped like an ICBM missile.
