I have been working on this Peace Garden and have recently met with a colleague and friend who is a Landscape Architect who teaches at Boston College. We would love to do the Peace Garden in Sarasota as a public installation.

The main part of the garden is app. 5 to 10 feet in diameter, it is a series of spiral helixes made of old army helmets arrange in a spiral around a howitzer that is about 15 feet tall. The howitzer has the water coming through the top and flowing down the individual helmets, in the helmets are water lilies. Surrounding the fountain are flower beds, with various plantings of peace and meditation, Blue Vervain, Chamomile, Hops, Poppy etc. The flower beds are made from old missle casings. There are benches surrounding this fountain. My colleague suggested being able to write on a piece of smooth stone the names of those who have died and placed in the foundation.

This is the rough idea of the project. We could call the Mike Pinciaro Peace Garden. A public fountain for rest, reflection, and peace.
