This flag is woven from the flags of Israel and Palestine. In the center is a Jewish memorial candle. The flag commemorates the journey of the Holocaust, the on going Nakbah and occupation of West Bank/ Gaza.
The performance art/ story is Namaya’s story as a Jew by culture, his journeys throughout the Islamic world and living in Yemen and Morocco. It is also his poignant story of his journey with 450 Hasidic Jews on a religious pilgrimage to the Russia and Ukraine. Namaya weaves the story of his journey to sites of the shoah and the Old Jewish cemetery in Prague. His story is belief that there can be a just future for the children of Israel and Palestine.
